The Media vault is a compact stand-alone storage safe that is engineered to protect data and media. The MV1000 protects photographs, computer media, microfiche and any of the other media listed below. Your contents will be safe from dust and fires up to 1700F.

The Underwriters Laboratory (UL) has given the MediaVault a Class 125 one hour rating. This means the interior temperature of the MediaVault will stay below 125 degrees F when outside temperatures are below 1700 F for one our or less. This is the only small media safe that meets this criteria.

A UL 125 rating is a must for hard drives and/or digital/magnetic media. Any temperature higher than 125 degrees F might mean loss of your data! (see Wikipedia)

In order to protect magnetic data a lower interior temperature is needed. So the Fireking DS series data safes were made to keep that lower temperature (125 degrees Fahrenheit) in extreme conditions. The RSC (Residential Security Container) rating means your data safe will be protected against theft. These safes are also water resistant. Add it all up and this means you will have piece of mind knowing your data is safe and secure.

This safe achieved its fire rating by maintaining  an interior temperature less than 125F and an interior relative humidity less than 80% for class 125, when exposed to fire as per the Standard Time Temperature Curve for 3 hours to 1925F.

This safe also passed the Fire Endurance Test, the Explosion Hazard Test, the Humidity Test, and the Fire and Impact Test. The safe did not explode or break open through 30 minutes to exposure to a 2000F fire and immediate 30 foot drop test and a standard reheating for one hour to 1700F.

When exposed to fire as per the Standard Time Temperature Curve for 3 hours to 1925F. this safe kept  an interior temperature less than 125F and an interior relative humidity less than 80% .

This safe also passed the the Humidity Test, the Fire and Impact Test and the Fire Endurance Test. The safe did not explode or break open through 30 minutes to exposure to a 2000F fire and immediate 30 foot drop test and a standard reheating for one hour to 1700F.

The data portion of the safe must maintain an interior temperature less than 125F and an interior relative humidity less than 80% for class 125, when exposed to fire as per the Standard Time Temperature Curve for 3 hours to 1925F.

The UL test for the records portion calls for the safe to be heated to 1550 for 30 minutes then dropped onto concrete rubble from a height of 30 feet. Then it is inverted and reheated for another 30 minutes. The safe must maintain its integrity throughout the test and protect all contents.

To get the 2 hour fire rating, this data safe had to keep an interior temperature less than 125F and an interior relative humidity less than 80% (for class 125), when exposed to fire as per the Standard Time Temperature Curve for 2 hrs to 1850F. To receive the impact rating, the safe had to remain shut and not explode through 30 minutes to exposure to a 2000F fire and immediate 30 foot drop test and reheating for 45 minutes to 1638F. The safe also met all other requirements for the Fire Endurance Test, Explosion Hazard Test, Humidity Test, and Fire and Impact Test.
