Jewelry Wall Safe
When choosing a jewelry wall safe you need to consider the depth. Many of our models are not very deep, so that they will fit in the wall without cutting through the back wall. A jewelry wall safe which is 3 1/2 inch to 4 inch deep, will require that you put some kind of containers for the items you store. In fact, even in the deeper wall safes, it would be best to organize your rings, necklaces, earrings and bracelets into containers.
Here are some helpful hints for organizing your jewelry wall safe:
Keep items made of chain separate from other items to avoid tangling
Use a couple wire twist ties if you are going to store 2 or more chain items together.
We find that the individual containers for storing tableware such as spoons are a good size for both shallow and deep safes.
It is probably best to store rings, brooches and earrings separate from necklaces to avoid tangling.
Other important things to know about using your jewelry wall safe:
Never store pearls in a safe - they are organic and need to breathe.
A fireproof jewelry wall safe will protect even costume jewelry from damage.
It is always good to insure valuable items.
It is a good idea to take a photo of each piece of jewelry and write a description on the back of it. If you have it - a receipt or assessment should be clipped to the picture to help your insurance company work on any claim. Store these in another place such as a safety deposit box.
It is always a good idea to put your safe in an inconspicuous place like behind hanging clothes in a closet or behind a mirror or painting.
You can avoid any tarnish by storing sterling silver jewelry in a closed container.
